Finch Fizzio
is able to provide skilled manual therapy for a variety of problems.
Conditions that are suitable for treatment include:
Recent sport and soft tissue injuries e.g. sprains of joints such as the ankle or the wrist and whiplash, strains of muscles such as the hamstrings, quadriceps and the rotator cuff (shoulder).
Longstanding injuries e.g. pain and stiffness as a result of past trauma such as fracture or dislocation, stiffness and weakness following immobilisation in plaster cast.
Overuse problems eg tendonitis: Common sites are achilles, patella, wrist and shoulder. Back and neck ache can often be due to overuse or "misuse", particularly in our modern world where everyone is sitting in front of a screen.
Back pain: Treatment for back pain often requires manual therapy to free up stiff joints and exercises to strengthen weak muscle groups. Lesley is trained in the Sarah Key approach to back pain and will on occasion use her foot to help mobilise a stiff spine. Core stability training can then be incorporated.
Biomechanical assessment: This is often valuable in determining underlying faults which have lead to niggly injuries; In the lower limb knee pain and shin pain are often triggered by poor foot posture and if this is corrected by orthoses considerable improvement can be achieved. In the upper limb faulty scapular patterning can be improved to alleviate shoulder pain.
Post-operative care: Following surgery a graded exercise programme can be designed to suit the individual and help progress their rehabilitation. This can be done as a home visit.
Vertigo: If someone is suffering from BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) then treatment using the Epley manoeuvre can be given to help relieve giddiness.
